OVERVIEW OF CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULING

The complete design-to-completion project is actually composed of several main "partners”– the main partners being the Owner, Architect, Engineering and Construction.  Each partner works to their project schedule and all partners work within a master project timeline.  The three technical partners may be departments within the same firm or they may be different firms.

To be successful (win-win for all partners in the process) it helps to understand the basic process used by each partner in the overall project.  This course examines the process used by the last partner in the process, the partner with the most outside observable results and the partner always faced with the final deadline pressures.

This is a practical examination of the construction management scheduling process, its structure and dynamics, and how it interacts and responds to changes.

1.  The six step scheduling processes:
                         a.  What are activities
                         b.  How are durations calculated
                         c.  How are activities related
                         d.  How is a schedule calculated
                         e.  Review and Analyzing the Schedule
                         f.   Implementing the Schedule
2.  The Loaded Schedule
3.  Crashing the Schedule
4.  Updating the Schedule
